we don't really care about the château connotation, this is why we called it Château Lafoutte, but we care about big space, a vibrant working atmosphere, feminism and communication. CENTRE POMPADOUR, the laboratory of neofeminism, is artist run and not to be confused with Centre Pompidou which is also into arts...
after three years of hardcore cleaning, this big old house became the home of the laboratory of neofeminisme - the contemporary version of feminism in a world of gender diversity.
Madame de Pompadour was a clever woman, a very political person and an art lover, though she is remembered more for her love than for her love for art. obviously Madame de Pompadour was not a feminist. yet her determination and power were sufficient to make her a nuisance in the collective memory. we borrowed her name because of its resemblance to this other French institution for art...
needless to say, we are in France and we certainly do love food. breakfast is served daily until noon. in the evening, residents can either dine together, join the communal meals or access the guest kitchen to do their own thing.

Picardie is a region that has been at the heart of european history for well over a thousand years, though its historic heritage includes some of the finest mediaeval cathedrals in France, a lot of châteaux and many sites of the great war, it is not one of the great tourist regions of France.
neighbouring Normandy and only 12 km away from the seacoast, you can either reach CENTRE POMPADOUR by car (200 km to Paris, 290 km to Bruxelles, 260 km and some water to London) or by train (the nearest train stop is Abbeville).
the next grocery store and café are 5 km away, the nearest little town is 12 km away, the nearest seaside restaurants are 22 km away.
Château Lafoutte was built in 1849 - the year after the historically famous outbreak of a wave of revolutions that altered the political and philosophical landscape throughout the rest of the century.
its architect Hector-Martin Lefuel is best known for the completion of the Palais du Louvre, the theatre of the Fontainbleau Château, the Château Neudeck, in neobaroque stile, typical for the Second Empire.
the original commissioner and owner of Château Lafoutte was Henri Adhemar le Blond de Plouy and the family stayed about a century before leaving to a neighbouring château.
château Lafoutte offers a lot of privacy, surrounded by a lot of nature. in the garden of 4 ha / 10 acres you find a little pavilion and sitting areas.
